New Huggies Enjoy the Ride code - 5 points

If you buy Huggies diapers, I hope you're taking advantage of their rewards program.  If you are going to be buying diapers, you might as well get rewarded for it!

You simply collect codes from product packages and occasionally from other places as well.  You enter the codes on the site and earn points for sweepstakes entries, gift cards, coupons for free diapers (my fav!) and other goodies!

Here's the latest code I found:  BJPTC-BCKNJ-DCPGB.  It's worth 5 points.

New to the program?  Sign up, it's free!

Two FREE Kindle books

I'm always on the lookout for free Kindle books from Amazon.

You know that you can always find tons of books for free, right?  The selection is always changing.  Just in the past few months, I've downloaded about 30 Kindle books.... for FREE!!! Can't beat that, right?!

Anyway, here are the latest mysteries/thrillers that I've found... (both have had great reviews, by the way!)

A Little Death In Dixie by Lisa Turner

Mourn The Living by Henry Perez

Don't have a Kindle? Follow the link for the book and on the right sidebar should be links to download a free Kindle reader for your computer!

Cancelling Christmas

So this year I think we are cancelling Christmas.

Sounds harsh, I know.  But it's something I've been thinking about for awhile now.  And with a few recent turn of events, I think it's going to work out better for our whole family this way.

Over the past two years, we've lost a significant amount of our side-income.  Like $6,000.  That's huge since we live on one income.  And then you factor in pay cuts and unpaid furlough days, and you start to see life getting harder.  And of course just about everything costs more these days.

It's been tough and it's getting tougher. Just a few months ago my brother got a long-awaited job as a local city cop.  Then recently they decided, hey we hired all these cops, but we can't afford to actually pay them.  They're planning a HUGE layoff extravaganza.  Wonderful.

Then there's my Dad, who's been working a temp job ever since the company he worked for went out of business last year.  Well actually he was unemployed for awhile before he even found the temp job.  Damn economy.  Anyway, he just found out that his temporary position is over.  Great.

So... I've decided to cancel Christmas.  Well, not all of Christmas.  We'll still get together, have a great dinner and enjoy each other's company.  But we won't be exchanging gifts.

Of course Santa will still visit our house and leave gifts for our kids.  We're certainly not so bad off that we'd ruin the special day for our kiddos.  But they won't be receiving as much as they did last year.  With the goal of spending less, the gifts that we do buy will be more well thought out, hopefully more special, and cherished by our kids.

And you know what?  I'm actually really excited about all this.  Who would have thought?  It's very freeing to know that I won't be spending the next four months hunting down the perfect gifts.

Don't get me wrong, I love to shop and I love to shop for just the right gift for each person.  Throughout the year, I normally take notes on gifts that I think each person would like or find useful.  I love trying to find all those gifts for a fraction of their regular costs, using sales and coupons.  I'm gonna miss all of that.

But instead, I get to focus on the beauty of fall, the fun of Halloween, the yumminess of Thanksgiving, all the deocrating, the baking, and the family get-togethers.  And we'll have lots of extra time to dance around singing Christmas carols with the kids... love that!

Bath & Body Works lotion - $1.00!

Snag the newest Bath & Body Works scent, Dark Kiss, in a 2 oz. lotion for just $1.00!  This normally sells for $3.50, so it's a pretty good savings.

You can also get the Dark Kiss Fragrance Mist in a 3 oz. size bottle for $2.00, regularly $3.50.  Or pick the Dark Kiss Filled Candle for $5.00, which is normally $9.50.

These small sizes make for great stocking stuffers if you're thinking that far ahead.  Also these would be great for small teacher gifts.  Or you could buy all three, put them in a cute basket or tote for a nice gift.

Sold!

I wanted to add a little update on my challenge to earn an extra $200.  If you missed the first two parts of this series, you can find them here and here.

So I had listed a few things on craigslist, which didn't sell.  Then I relisted them a few times, and finally got a seller for a toy that was brand new, in the box.  Yay, I made $20!!!
So I'm moving along... just really slooooowly, which is pretty much what I expected. I find it hard to motivate myself to take the pictures, write up descriptions and list the items.  It's super easy, yet I always find a way to put it off.

Anyway I'm up to $45 out of $200!  Now if only I can get motivated, I'll list a few more things on Craigslist.
