I don't usually participate in blog memes and such, but I've been wanting to get out and meet some new bloggers lately.  So I figured, what better way to do it than with a Follow Me Friday!

The whole point is to browse through the participating blogs and find some new and interesting ones to follow.

You can find me blogging here and over at Mommy Are the Toys on Sale?

Like what you see?  Please consider subscribing, following me through Google Friend Connect, Twitter or Facebook.  You can find all the appropriate links on my sidebar.

ProFlowers saves the day...

On more than one occasion I have somehow managed to completely forget about an upcoming birthday or other special event until the very last moment.

Yes, I know, I'm a terrible friend.  Or family member.  Actually, I tend to be quite organized and plan for these things well in advance so that I'm prepared.  But sometimes life just gets in the way and I forget.

When I've finally remembered the event at the last moment, I've fallen back on ProFlowers.  A little pricey for my frugal self, but I know it is an easy way to make a friend feel special on her birthday.  And that's well worth it to me when it's the last minute and I don't have time to shop for anything else.

Besides shopping on the ProFlowers site is pretty fun... it's not just flowers!  They have all kinds of birthday baskets, plants, new baby gift sets and gourmet cookies.

So I was super excited when I was given the opportunity to do a product review for them.  They sent me the Hibiscus Bonsai.  Take a peek at it, it's so pretty!

My bonsai arrived well packaged and in great condition.  It only had one flower, but plenty of little buds ready to open up, since it blooms in summer.  Over the past week many of those buds have opened up into the most beautiful flowers.

When I received my bonsai, I was surprised to find a care sheet enclosed.  I thought that was a really nice touch, especially for people like me that are clueless with this kinda stuff.  Good thing they included it too, because I didn't realize that this particular bonsai is an outdoor plant.  But with the care sheet, it gave me all the info I needed.

Do you need a last minute gift for someone?  If so, check out the summer sale.Save up to 40% + get a FREE Premium Vase. Ends 8/31/2010.  Or you can save 15% on Birthday Flowers & Gifts (min $39.99). Ends 7/31/2010.

Disclosure:  I received a free Hibiscus Bonsai from ProFlowers in order to fascilitate my review.  All reviews are written with my own, honest opinions.

Michael's 50% off printable coupon

Get your craft on - but do it without breaking the bank.  Here's a coupon for 50% off any one regular priced item at Michael's.

Print your coupon here.

Hurry! Coupon is only valid through tomorrow 7/10/10.

I don't know about you, but when I walk through the doors of a craft store, I just want to scoop it all up and buy everything.  So a coupon for one item makes me sort of sad.  I refuse to pay full price if I know I can get it cheaper.

So I usually take Hubby and he uses another coupon for one of my other items :)  Oh and I used my sister before too... ok and maybe my daughter who was 3 at the time.  No shame in saving money!

My Frugal Blogging Inspiration...

Wayyyyy back in 2006, shortly after my daughter was born in March, I started reading blogs.  I had never even heard of a blog until I stumbled upon one.  And I was hooked.  Hooked.

That one blog led me on to discover a whole list of blogs that I read daily.  Come on, what else was I supposed to do when my daughter was nursing 24/7.  Ok, it wasn't 24/7, but it sure seemed like it, lol.

Anyway one of the blogs that I thoroughly enjoyed was Mommy are the Toys on Sale?  It was one of the great blogs at ClubMom.  And it totally inspired me to start my own frugal living blog... and so Tips & Treasures was born in January of 2007!

ClubMom has since dissolved, but the blog's author, Sarah, has brought the Mommy are the Toys on Sale? blog back and I'm super excited to be reading it once again!

Not only am I loyal reader, but Sarah has invited me to blog over there as well!  Of course, I jumped on that opportunity and I hope you guys will check us out over there.  Seriously come on over, follow us on google or twitter, subscribe, or leave some comment love!

We're blogging about our frugal, money saving ways and we'll be giving you all kinds of tips to stretch your dollars and have more left over for the fun stuff in life.  We'll also be giving you lots of opportunities to request free high-value product coupons.

Oh, and there'll be giveaways!!!  Gotta love giveaways!

Hope to see you guys there!

How quickly can I earn $200? Part 2

So last week I posted about my goal to earn an extra $200 and to see how quickly I can do it.  I'm off to a bit of a slow start due to the busy holiday weekend and then a few days spent at the shore.

Anyway, my plan is to go through all the "extras" we have laying around collecting dust and sell, sell, sell!  It really is amazing how, in five years living here, we've accumulated SO much.

I've used Ebay and Blujay and various yardsales in the past to sell, and have just recently started selling on Craigslist.  Boy, is that so much easier!!!  And cheaper! I actually get to keep all my profits!  Imagine that concept!  Really, I should have jumped on the Craigslist wagon a long time ago.

So anyway, we had this swing & slide climber sitting in the yard which my kids are too big for now.

So I listed it on Craigslist and had it sold within two days.  Easy and done.  Made $25!!!

Yay, that's a great start to my goal.  Then we got all busy and everything and I didn't list anything for a few days.  But this morning I kicked myself in the butt and listed my daughter's old tap shoes for $10 and a brand new, in the box toy for $20.  I'll keep you posted on how I do with them.

Next, I have a few NapPaks that I need to sell.  I was once a sales rep for them.  Four years ago I bought a bunch to sell, and then kinda sorta didn't sell too many because I got busy with life as a new mom and then more of life took over and they got forgotten about.

Soooo, yea I wanna sell those.  Going to try them on Craigslist as well.  Will try to get pics and list those within the next few days.

I'm also planning on selling my kids' old clothes and maybe some smaller toys at our library's annual yardsale in the fall.  I usually do pretty well there.  And I'll also be doing a yardsale at my parents' house this fall.  I'll sell alot there, as their house is on a busy street.

We live on a back street, which doesn't get alot of traffic.  I tried a yardsale once before and it was totally not worth it for the small amount that we sold.  But, we didn't advertise enough, so I might give that another try if we get a good, not too hot, day for it.

Ok, so I've got a plan and I've made $25 out of $200 so far.  I'll be sure to keep you posted on how this goes!

How quickly can I earn $200?

I'm setting myself a goal... and it seems a little scary.  I want to earn $200 in extra cash, and I want to see how quickly I can do it.

Just the other day Hubby's employer issued mandatory unpaid days off.  Essentially a paycut, packaged up in a 3-day weekend each month.

Their hope was that the employees would be happy they had a long weekend to look forward to each month.  Yea great, except for when you're already stretched too thin from the previous paycuts.  All while the cost of living keeps increasing. (Yes, I'm bitter.)

Anyway, in an effort not to dwell on how much this sucks, I'm trying to kick myself in the butt to see how much extra money I can earn.  Yea, this is in addition to what I already earn through this blog, taking paid surveys, and my various other ways of earning online.

So I'm setting a goal of $200, which certainly doesn't come close to the money we're losing, but hey, it's a start.  Hopefully I can reach my goal... and get on to setting a new one soon enough.

How do I plan on earning $200?  Well considering that I'm a stay at home mom to my two year old and four year old, I don't have a whole lot of options.  My degrees in Psychology and in Marketing, as well as my Elementary Ed. background, won't do me too much good at the moment.

Tomorrow I'll post my plan, as it stands so far.  I know you'll all be desperately waiting for the details...
