CAUTION: Rant Ahead
Ok, I have an issue and maybe you, my wise readers, can help me out with this one. Please, please, please help me to understand this.When you bring your own canvas/reusable bags to a store, why does it automatically mean you also must bag your own items???
I've been using my own canvas bags to grocery shop for atleast a year now and for the past 6 months or so, I've trying to mostly use my own bags for other shopping as well. I keep a small canvas bag in my purse at all times and the rest stay in my car's trunk, so they're always with me.
Anyway, just about every single time I'm using my own bags, I am also the one who has to put my purchases into my bags. It's like the cashiers think they can take a nice break just because I'm not using their wasteful plastic bags.
All I want to know is where's my paycheck for doing their job?
This especially happens at Target. I get all my canvas bags out, stand them up and open at the end of the checkout lane so that they are all ready and easy to place the items directly into them.
But you know what always happens??? The moron cashier stands there and hands each and every item to me. Or they place the items down NEXT TO THE BAG. Then I have to pick each thing up and put them into the bags.
Does anyone see the logic there????
I am at a loss as to why they feel they can't bag my items just because I'm using my own bags. Do they realize that by me bringing my own bags, I'm not only helping the environment, but I'm also cutting the costs of their employer? And in turn, making it just a little less likely the store will need to make cutbacks. And maybe it's just a little less likely that they will be part of those cutbacks???
Of course, this may be a bit of a pain, but I'll continue using my own bags. A little bit of inconvenience is worth it to avoid the waste of plastic bags.

I just snagged this great deal, and as always, felt I'd share it with my lovely readers.
Several months ago I signed up with ArtsCow. Familiar with it? It's an online photo print place just like Snapfish or PhotoWorks. I signed up, got 1,200 free prints, 3 free photo books, and other wonderful offers for free or really cheap prints and photo gifts.
And what did I do? Nothing. Life has just been too busy and I never got around to actually logging on and ordering my goodies. I should be ashamed of myself for ignoring such fantastic offers for so long.
Anyway, today I got another email offer from ArtsCow and I finally, finally placed an order. I ordered this personalized mirror with a pic of my kiddos on it. Cute, right? And it was only $1.99! With free shipping! (Used coupon code: MIRROR199, expires 5/31/09)

Potty Training and a Freebie
Ughhh potty training is one of those big parenting stresses. Thankfully my daughter is most of the way there!She's completely day-time potty trained, including during her nap, and we're just working on the night time thing. But we're not rushing anything.
Everyone has their own method of potty training and there's tons of reading material around the net. But the two things that got us through it were...
1.) Consistency... deciding on a plan and sticking with it.
2.) Patience... not worrying and knowing she would do it when she was ready.
Seriously, this is really all you need. Let your child guide you. Don't freak out about it and your little one will be more likely to not freak out about it either. They won't be wearing diapers in high school. Promise.
One other thing... consistency may be the key, but you also need to know when it's time to change your approach and try something new. Don't get stuck in a rut. Try to keep your child excited and motivated.

One of my favorite places for free products is VistaPrint. They always have a nice selection of free items to choose from. And what's even better, you can personalize them for free too!

There is one catch though... you do need to pay shipping for your free items. But have no fear, the shipping is not bad. And these are not little samples, these are full-sized regular products that you get for free. So, it's totally worth it.
