Easy Toddler Entertainment

One of my least favorite things in the entire world, is being stuck waiting in a waiting room. No, no wait. I wanna change that. My least favorite thing is being stuck in a waiting room with a rambunctious 2 year old.

I would bring small toys or books with us and my daughter would want nothing to do with them. Running around and exploring her new surroundings was far more exciting.

One of the things that has worked for us is keeping a small pack of crayons and a small notepad in my purse. And what works great for this is those small packs of 4 crayons that they give out at restaurants, like Friendly's.

With crayons handy, our daughter can keep herself busy coloring or having mom and dad color. Why are mom & dad coloring? Well that's one of her favorite games. We draw pictures and she guesses what we are drawing. That can keep her busy for a good bit of time.

I have a 5 pack of Crayola twistables in my purse. They don't break, come in a nifty plastic pouch, and I got them at the dollar store.

Of course, the children end up scribbling on the back of receipts... I'm usually not FULLY prepared LOL!

I carry crayons in a flat metal "crayola" crayon tin that I got at Cracker Barrel. It's great for keeping them fron breaking in my over stuffed diaper bag.
At the doctor's office I let them draw on the white paper on the examining table. It's HUGE! And they feel like they are getting away with something sneaky! :)

Our guy loves to color too, but we have worn it out at church, so we are on to magnetic toys that are just for Sunday. Here is an example. (http://www.shop.com/SILLY_FACES_MAGNETIC_TRAVEL_TIN_GAME-44523350-p!.shtml)
I keep this and a small puzzle in the car for days we are at the doctor or any place he'll be bored. Flash cards are fun for 2 year olds to sort too. I found some colors and shapes types at the dollar store! Something small like that can just stay in the diaper bag for restaurants, etc.
